A great days diving and one of the best sites in the UK, in my humble opinion.
The Dive plan was to have a little bimble around the 24mtr shelf and swim
through the tunnel in the hopes of capturing some image equaled to Bret's?
The dive started well but when we got to the tunnel Ivan had a free
flowing reg. This was the first time Ivan had experienced a free flow for
real and he
really did handle the situation very well considering we were around 20mtrs on the first dive. He headed north ward & despite the best efforts I
found him on the surface still free flowing, but all was good and
surface swim back to the platform and a lovely SI with hot teas and
Coffee. A debrief didn't reveal any kit issues, maybe a mixture of cold
water and and heavy breathing contributed to the problem.
After a chat we decided to carry on with dive two.....
Dive two we did pretty much the same dive, Vis wasn't the best I have
seen at Dotty, 5 degrees, so not to cold. Andy led the dive and we went
through the tunnel this time and rounded the headland before coming shallower for a
Newt hunt. Stopping at around 6mtrs, Ivan and myself had a little play at
reg exchanges by way of practice for free flowing contingency and a bit
of buoyancy practice doing a stop at 5 mtrs. Andy and Craig stayed
looking for newts, and eventually met up with Steve and Lisa returning
after their dive.
Thankyou to Andy, Craig, Ivan, Gary and Mark.for a cracking day out. Looking forward to the next one.
