St Abbs weekend
Diving from Pathfinder
Well I must say when we arrived on Friday it didn't look promising, but with a bit of confidence I unpacked the van and readied my dive kit. Dori wasn't diving due to an ear infection, so I was buddy less until Dave and Julie came to my rescue Very Happy Very Happy Thank you Cool Cool

A bit of a late start on Saturday, just to give the Sea a chance to settle down, but still a bit of a swell!!! Dive one was on Black Carrs (Poor Julie didn't make it, sea sickness got the better of her) Dave was still game for a dive so in we jumped, (always make me wonder how sane we are ,jumping off a perfectly good boat and into a vast rolling sea! ). We saw loads of Wolfish, Lobsters, Crabs and the biggest Nudi ever. We reached a max depth of 27mtr, with a total dive time of 50 minutes and pretty good vis too Cool

Back to Harbour for light refreshments while the second group steamed out for a dip.

Dive two was going to be a little closer to the harbour as the sea hadn't improved much, so off to white scar, 17mtr , tdt 45minutes with the vis dropping off. The dive had gone well and again we had lots to see. Up went the Dsmb and we waited for Paul to pick us up, closely followed by Doc and Jack, but we still had two divers missing!!! Shocked Shocked !!!

The Skipper started a patterned search, heading as far up as Ebb Carrs. 1 hour and 15 minutes after the 1st divers entered the water and the Skipper contacted the life boat. It wasn't looking good and sickening thoughts where starting to form in my mind and god knows what the skipper was going through. Then a call came over the radio that a walker up at Pettycoat Lighthouse had reported seeing two divers drifting in the water. The Life boat was called off and we finally caught up with the two missing Divers. They had been 45 minutes on the surface in a bad swell and a current pushing them Northward. Both were slightly cold and looking a little sick but relieved to be safely back on board and a sigh of relief was heard from all. The two had stayed together and both had inflated BCD's and suits and both had DSMB's inflated. They had linked together to stay together, textbook stuff, well done to them both

Two more dives on Sunday, Anemone Gulleys and the Woody swim through. The life in the Marine reserve always blows me away.
Thank you Bent for being a fantastic buddy, I hope to dive with you again soon.
A really great weekend. I will get on the Glanmire next time Laughing
Thank you to all that came along and made it a memorable time.

Thank you to Pete and Lisa for a great weekend's diving. Was a bit choppy on Saturday and being more of a drift dive not great for photos.
However a great weekend up there, met new people and old friends. Jack, Bent and I had a nice meal out with RoHo at the New Inn, some of their group had dropped out so we filled their pre-booked table.
Last dive of the weekend at Woody's swimthrough would have been better if I had not 'lost' Jack. He'd been taking a photo of a crab and then took a different route and we lost each other. Bit unnerving when I sent up my dsmb and got to 5m for my stop to find him already there! Scary affraid
So not many photos below water this time...got more taken above....

Thanks all for a great weekend with lovely diving and new experiences.
I must admit it was a bit unsettling to wait for the boat for more 45 minutes, but we never lost faith in Paul, the skipper of Pathfinder.
Just wondered whether he, the life boat, or the helicopter will show up first.
