PostSubject: MALTA - SEPTEMBER 2013.   Fri Sep 13, 2013 12:35 pm

Just back from our annual family holiday to Malta where I managed to sneak in 2 days diving.

Day 1 - With H20 divers (who are based where our appartment is on Golden Bay) we drove out to Cirwekka for 2 dives.
Dive 1 conisted of entering the water and taking a route out to he left reef where we got to max depth of around 22mtrs.
Octopuss, Barracuda,Morays plus loads of other fish to be seen as well as a seahorse who has taken residence in a bout 5 mtr deep water just as you get top the exit channel so spending 3 minutes looking for him was a good way of passing time on the safety stop.
Dive 2 cosisted of entering the water by stride entry furter round and taking a route round to the right (toward where the Rozi lies) but not going that far out.A pretty similar dive than the first to be honest equally as beautiful. This time only geting to about 20mtrs max depth. As we started our ascent you could sense someting was brewing above the surface and as you looked up it was like thousands of knitting needles were pucturing the surface of the water. We came up the most ferocious storm I have ever been out in and struggled like mad to get out of the water and up the steps the the vehicle. The drive blind drive back through Melleiha was eventful with lampost being blon over in the road and chaos everywhere from hotel & resteraunt tables & chairs flying out into the road...Not pleasant.
A freak storm which arraived from Sardinia was to blame by all accounts.

Day 2 - Again with H20 and again at Cirwekka site, using the recently  Pro Scuba aquired Advanced Open Water qualification we went out to the 2 wrecks situated there.
Firstly heading out to the left (as before) we went out to the P29 mine sweeper wreck at 30mtrs.Was quite a tough trip out to it with a quite strong current on the day but thoroughly enjoyable.
Dive 2 we headed out to The Rozi which lies at about 30 mtrs, Barracuda circling the mast was a good sight and Moray popping out of the port holes every now and again.
Al this with all the other sea life knocking about meant a thoruoghly enjoyable days diving.

Just need my Deep Spec & my Wreck Spec and my trip next year will have more depth and penetration.

All in all.. Loved it.!!

Really glad you enjoyed Malta Matt, and it was great to see you on the plane coming home and to hear of your dives and generally catch up.

Like me you are probably a bit tired after all that diving.

[btw - you have a beautiful daughter, reminded me of my Sammy at that age]
