The Yasawa Islands to the North West of the group of islands are stunning. White sandy beaches, lush green hills and crystal clear water. Power is supplied by generators, food is delivered daily and fresh water is either stored filtered rainwater or desalinated.
The diving was great and the snorkelling was the best I've seen. a couple of photos to give you an appetite.
The picture above is the cave that Brooke Shields swam in the film Blue Lagoon. The one below is the 'Blue Lagoon' of the same film. A little different to the Blue Lagoon we all know and love at Womersley !!
We saw these little critters whilst snorkelling. I had never either of them before. The Crown of Thorns was very impressive. The blue star fish is the emblem on the Yasawa Flyer which is the catamaran traveling up and down the Yasawas dropping backpackers and travellers off at the various islands.
Anyone who has dived tropical waters; Egypt for example will have seen this little fella for sure..
We also dived a reff called Shark Reef. Unlike the Shark Reef at Ras Mohamed this reef actually had sharks and lots of them. I was told before the dive we would encounter up to 5 difference species. True to form as we descended we were welcomed by 3 grey reef sharks. Our dive time was 50 minutes at maximum depth of 20m and were lucky enough to see a couple of black tip and a few white tip reef sharks also. The Grey Reef Sharks had a constant presence throughout the dive. Photos you may ask. I'm afraid not. I chose to take the Go Pro for this dive and have no idea how to upload the images onto the Forum. It took me long enough to manage photo uploads !!!!!
To al going diving this weekend happy diving. To those travelling to Menorca I hope you have a great trip. Dive safely where ever you chose.
Oh, my regulators require a service now, does anyone know the best place ? Apex ATX 100 with an ATX 40 Alternate !!!!
