PostSubject: Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea   Wed Mar 07, 2012 11:13 pm

Just finished a 5 day Liveaboard on the GBR and Coral Sea.

14 dives in all, including a couple of night dives.

Enjoyed the diving and saw some new cool stuff.... including Giant Potato Cod and Silver-tip sharks (during the shark feed).
Vis during the trip was mixed and the depths were generally max of 25m. The liveaboard experience on the whole was hardcore.... eat-dive, eat-dive, eat-dive, eat-dive, sleep..... then do it all again the next day!!!!! The weather was lovely and even found time to top up the tan!

Went to Osprey Reef, which is on the outer barrier reef - its very similar diving to Christmas Island.... massive drop offs and lots of toothy things! This is where we did the shark feed. As shark feeds go, I think this was handled well.... with very little human-shark interaction. The sharks associated the wheeley-bin with the food - not the divers. This rested better with my morals on the subject of shark feeding. Nevertheless, the experience was amazing! One which I will never forget!

A few of our pics can be found on the below link.....

Back to Christmas Island at the weekend a few more days in Cairns to enjoy the weather and shopping!!!!! Very Happy

Fantastic photos Lex - well done

Love the underwater cardboard cut-out that you take down too, the one that looks like Jase - always in the same pose resting on the bottom

We did see a few turtles, but not as many as I had hoped... plus they weren't very keen to be photographed Suspect
