Trimix at NDAC Ndac114

This weekend I went down to NDAC, Chepstow for a trimix course. What a great place to dive. Has to be one of the friendliest places. Everyone was so friendly from other divers, their shore cover guys, Jack Ingle was there, people from PADI Bristol looking for re-breather buddies, the man trialling new camera stobes which lasted 2 mins underwater, £750 per min he reckoned in the minibus going back up the hill. Lots of rebreather divers, even Mr Poseidon was there saying how well they were flying off the shelf these days.

My course was through Lodge Scuba, new owners of DW, but an established London training centre. Cave diving being Simon's love.
I had one buddy, Jacob from London, a BSAC instructor from Guy's Hospital club. His previous course had not been as intense as my PADI Tec 50, he still needed the extended range air cert.

We had 4 dives over 2 days:

Dive 1 - skills and drills to ensure we were basically competent, mask removal, shutdowns, out of air drills, dsmb deployment
Dive 2 - an air dive to 46m to check our tolerance at depth and bouyancy control on stops, dsmb again
Dive 3 - a trimix dive to the bottom, 62m, just a few rocks there to see, all the gnomes have been removed, too tempting for rec divers to take a look. Jacob and I had planned that one and led it. Simon and Sarah just following along behind. dsmb again
Dive 4 - a 10m dive to off gas a bit more and to take a look at the shallow end attractions. few unexpected skills thrown in, plus I had asked to try one of those crack dsmbs - far too fast to be playing with at depth.

Overall a very good weekend, can recommend the place - plenty to see and explore, the vertical bouyancy tubes were fun, lots to see in the shallower 26m end. Most important - a lot of friendly divers all being safe

I must try this Trimix stuff. Sounds like it could make huge difference to your head at depth.

I'm gong to buy the book and start reading up on it.

Sounds like you had a great weekend.
