Atlantic Diving, Portugal

So I didn't have to lounge around a pool with 8 teenagers I booked 3 days diving at a local PADI 5* centre in Albufeira. Nice group of people to dive with, all booked via e-mail, but very pleased with the reception I got and their organisation, for such a small centre.

Weds 13th July

So today we went somewhere into the Atlantic, I will find out the names of the sites again tomorrow, basically just out from the new marina at Albufeira. However the vis was terrible so I could have been dropped in the Atlantic anywhere. Buddies were Russel, one of their regular holiday divers and Simon, very dapper but cold in a dry suit (no Arctics), especially after 64 mins on dive 1.

Most of the photos taken today had to be close ups, some of them are dedicated to TINK!

Day 2 ....Ancoras and PP Caves Lagos

Yesterday's 2 dives were at Santa Eulalia and Arrifes, both at Albufeira. Today we went to Lagos and hired a Dive Time small hard boat. This was a ladies only trip. Maria from Austria, sisters Ashleigh and Phillipa from Belfast but at Uni in Scotland, and MI Jo. Ash was doing her adventure dives and buddied with her sister who is out there for the season doing her Rescue and DM.

Dive Time also had a rib out, a mens only boat. We went to separate sites for dive 1 but went into the same place for dive 2. The ladies went in first and came out last!!

Vis on both dives was poor again, comparable to Eccy/Stoney on a bad day. Water temp 14-15 degrees so a tad chilly for the less experienced amongst us. But we managed 43 and 45 mins before air got short for some.

The marina at Lagos...

really good photos, diving looks more interesting than puddle jumping, however BL is closer.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Day 3

A much better days diving on my last day, better vis, more to see and 2 good buddies who liked to potter round slowly watching the wildlife and we managed 2 one hour dives. The dive sites were known to ex-pat John, many thanks for guiding. Other buddy was AOW Adrian from Selby - who may come and dive with us sometime, also ready to go onto rescue course and needs some specialties.
Yesterdays dive sites were Pedra do Alto and Pedra da Oura.
