Lake District Fun

Absolutely fantastic day's adventure it was.
Scary zero vis dive, tunnels, caves, underground lakes,diving in waterfalls, bridge jumps,drifting down rivers,exploring new sites,naked hedgehogs,brilliant views and stunning locations - what more can you ask for from a days diving!

I am sure there will be lots more cracking photo's - I have a few that I will post up.

Huge thanks to Pappa for organising such a great trip. Big congratulations to a mostly fully clothed Sonic on :
a) His Rescue Cert
b) His MSD!
c) His 50th dive (and celebratory swim)

Also congrats to Mr Andy W who finally got back into the water after a long (for him) absence - and finishing the day with his cert for providing DSD's.

I am absolutely knackered this morning so am very impressed that half of the team are up again this morning go and do a trip to the coast - impressive stamina!

id like to say a massive thank you to the 4 that were there on this day out where i managed to acheive quite a bit.

also a special thank you to sir papa smudge for a memorable day.

so onto the dives.
as skies has already said, hodge close was a massive downer due to shocking vis. on the plus side it was a challenging dive as i had to use only my computer to judge bouyancy and accent/decent rates. very tough dive but i gained a lot as it pushed me well outside my comfort zone. still managed 29.3m with a dive time of 17 mins.
after the actual dive skies, smudge,andy w and myself took a trip through the caverns and into the flooded room in the quarry. better vis than the actual dive

but the day took a turn for the better at birks bridge.

what an amazing little site this is. we had so much fun playing in this little river. with only a max depth of 3.5m with a lot of digging and a narrow diving area it was still loads of fun.
smudge and doc got some amazing pics and as this was my 50th dive i did the customary naked dive. in a chilly 10 degrees it was a bit of a shock to the system but a great laugh. im sure pics will follow if i ever figure out how to get them on.

so the day out in the lakes brought me my rescue diver cert after doing my exam in the van. also my 50th dive at a site nobody at pro scuba has done before.

the biggest thing was acheiving MSD. so chuffed ive got to it finally.

This was a disappointing visit to one of our favourite dive sites

Not only was the surface littered with debris but the water was green and murky with very limited visability. It was not a good introduction to the site for Sonic and Skies

So only a few photos taken of Sonic on our safety stop

The full extent of Sonic's food larder isn't quite visible on that pic

Its no coincidence that I appear on several photo's hiding behind trees, scary people standing too close to the edge for my liking
