I've added this email I have received from John, who learnt to dive with us last year. Hope things get better soon and we see you out this year with us.
Hi Smudge,
Sorry I have not been able to join you since completing my open water course. I am in financial strife I have not had any work since mid Nov made redundant and now 48 not so easy to find work, once I find work again and I have some cash I have the bug and will be active.
You may remember the reason I wanted to learn to dive was because I had a holiday in Jamaica. I have recently returned from the Ocho Rios resort. I got 4 dives in 3 single & 1 double cylinder dive. I did what’s know as “the Mountain” depth 120ft a sub sea “mountain” erupting from the sea bed, 1 wreck dive at 70ft and a couple of reef dives 35ft and 50ft no problems of any sorts you must be doing some thing right in your training thanks. I saw several turtles, sting rays, sea snake, some ugly fairys eel thing usual selection of fish and shells with creatures living in them borrowed and owned.
Since returning I have been looking at kit to buy once I get a job there is a mass of stuff on the market so can you make some recommendations please, I’ll start with BCD and reg later in the year all been well I’ll will be going off by my self diving abroad for a week any good company’s to go with or best place to dive is there a club summer dive holiday?
Say hello to all, thank all those involved in my training and if any one has any work going for a engineering/maintenance manager let me know.
All the best John Heaton
