FREEFLOW DAY AT DOTTY

Andy will fill you all in later but it was a good day out to Dorothea today
Plenty of practice for us sharing air at 40m on both dives, a chance to see why we practice being out of air, in case it really happens to someone you are diving with - or yourself of course, Andy picking the short straw twice today!

Here are a few photos from the 2 dives, Smudge took a lot more...
Ed your flowers are still there, looking as good as the day they went in

Good to see that you are all safe and that skills came in handy.

I think next time down in the depths of Dotty, I have to take down a Tea service and put that there, I think that would look good, but the tiffin might not be up to much....

Couple of good dives at Dotty today.

Congratulations to Neil on Completing his PADI Deep Diver Speciality

Andy W I'm sure will tell of his small problems - but good training, regular skill practice and above all lots of real diving make these situations easy to deal with.

Deep Diver Speciality requires you to participate in four dives beyond 18m. So we normlly do a couple at Stoney and then try to get you to recreational limit of 40m here at Dotty - the more you do deeper dives, the easier the shallower ones become. There is a little theory about air use at depth, special equipment but that is about it.

WELL DONE NEIL

Great to see you finish this specialty off at Dotty
Always an experience there
Always something to learn about ourselves and others

As Smudge has said, just a few deep dives under your belt does make the shallower diving much easier

OK not to worry Im still alive

As highlighted on the above posts today proved that regular skill practice and general regular diving in different enviroments means when problems arise beyond our control we can deal with them in a controlled and sensible manner, without any panic and most importantly ensuring that everyone is safe.

Having never had any problems with my regs before I found myself in a situation on both dives having free flowing regs at 40M (recreational diving limits).
This didnt become an issue and due to good buddy diving we all dealt with the situation without too much fuss.

However on dive number 2 a little bit more of a test came to fruition when with a free flow on my primary reg I also had an AAS that would not deliver any air, mmm not too long to brainstorm at this point.

Again good buddy diving and sensible thinking resolved the situation so that we could carry on the dive.

This has proved without doubt to me that skill practice and gaining real time diving experience prevents the possibility of people being put in danger.

Thanks to smudge and Doc for the rental of there regs and air whilst we got sorted out.

Another fabulous day as usual with great friends and great fun along with fabulous experiences in real situations.

(Very funny though when I got home the same night Allie had the insurance policies out and Smudge had called the night before ????) Twisted Evil

WELL DONE NEIL ON COMPLETING YOUR DEEP !!
