Jase Vs Shark!!!!!

Well Jase has done it again.... another first for us out here....

Unfortunatly I missed it as I was stuck with customers at 18m!

So the story starts....
Todays second dive - the Casino... The sea right in front of our house. We've dived here loads of times before.... but today was different!

Jase dropped down the wall/sandy slope to 30m and saw a shark swimming towards him, at first thinking it was a common reef shark... as it appropached closer and closer he realised it was a BIG shark!

Jase started to display all of his learnt anti-shark behaviours .... but still the shark came closer. As I looked down at Jase I did wonder what on earth he was doing.... I couldnt see any sharks! But Jase signaled to me "BIG SHARK".

One almost rapid assent later and Jase is writing me a message on his slate..... "Big F%$*^£% Tiger Shark!"
Yes - Jase came nose to nose with a 4-5m Tiger Shark. The shark investigated Jase, before doing a U-Turn and returning to the blue! The shark came within 3m of Jase!!!!! And apparently the sharks girth was as big as a chair! Which I can believe.... given the stories that I have heard about Tiger Sharks on CI.

So as you can imagine we have spent the evening reading all of our diving books.... hearing how dangerous Tiger Sharks are!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fortunatly Jase is very brave and put up a good fight!

All I keep saying to him is that he is a lucky bugger.... I wish I'd have seen it!!!!!!!

So hopefully tonight will be a quiet night.... and a good .... that we have no nightmares of big sharks!

Ps.... before you ask Smudge.... Sorry no pics. Probably a good job, as it might have excited the shark even more!

Sounds like quite an adventure, thanks for sharing.... but we do want some pictures of your lovely home, dive sites and fishy friends

My mum lands here on Friday, so gonna take a few days off.... will take loads of pics then promise!!!

You not selling pictures to your clients.... in most resorts the photographers can earn more than the instructors. Look at that guy in Malta!

remind Mr Jason the rules - either a picture of said animal or a witness of high moral status

Yeah that is a business opportunity that we have discussed and looked into. Unfortunatly the logistics are a little more complicated....

* One person required to drive the boat
* One person required to guide the dive and show people the great stuff
* Photographer = another person

The problem - there is only Jason and Simon and between them they share the diving/running of the boat... depending on how many dives are scheduled for the day. On a weekend the extra perosn is availalbe (me)... but Simon tends to ask me and jase to lead dives so he can have a break from the diving!
There is a shortage of boat skippers and dive professionals on the island.... I think Jase has only had a couple of days off since hes been here! (And that was due to the car / trailer being off the road!)

In regards to Mr Tiger Shark.... although I did not see the shark, I did witness Jase's reaction to sharky... and given that I knew he was not happy about something... so I have to believe him on this one! x
