| Thank-you Charlie for starting the post So seven of us set off today to a new location, 6 of us diving, Sammy on shore cover duties, with clipboard and checking us in and out. Dosthill is easy to find just off the M42, just through a few houses and next to a graveyard. About minus 5 degress as we arrived, it did rise to minus 2. The cold produced a few problems with frozen water in inflator hoses - defrosted by Jack's coffee - thank you, freeflowing regs before they got into the water (Susannah's) and after lunch a few frozen hoods and gloves meant Jack and Charlie did not do dive two, well Charlie did get into the water but was too cold and numb with ice in his gloves we suggested he sat that one out. Poor Susannah had a leak so she missed the 2nd dive as well. Dive 1 - dropped off into clear water to the 2 platforms at the deep entry point, went along the right side for a while till bouyancies sorted, then into the deeper middle part with a few attractions, getting as far as the tree with added decorations. By then Susannah's air supply seemed to be rapidly disappearing so we turned about, a short 30 min dive. One significant dry suit leak, Susannah wet down one side. Dive 2 - just Iams, Andy and Doc, so along the left hand wall at 8m so we arrived at the shallower south end of the quarry. Here there is a small cairn to mark the beginning of the sunken objects and the building there. A few photos and measuring of the building, a glance at the reed bed and 4 platforms at that end and a nice swim with a very large pike. The pike is friendly enough and appeared again at the end of our 54 minute dive in the north end shallows, likes to lurk around the platforms, hoops and reeds. The 1st platform at the far end we came across had a few gnomes beneath it and a most useful thermometer so we could see how cold we were. The other 3 platforms are arranged in steps one above the other, ideal for training. In fact on a hot day we feel it must get very busy with students as there are about 9 platforms in the quarry - all very well supported, level and plenty of space on them. All in all a very nice experience all made better by the excellent staff there. 2 lads and 2 ladies, very welcoming and obliging. Entry was £12 for non-members. I'd like to point out that they lent me a large A4 slate free of charge, for mapping, airfills were cheap £2.50 per 10lt and £3 for a 12lt fill. Not as great a choice of airfills as Gilders, but no problem getting clean air to breathe! No need to strip twins down for filling either. Menu extensive - hot and cold choices, not quite Capers standard but service was excellent with a smile. All cooked in a little mobile trailer. Photos to follow..............just going to downsize them now..........Doc

Great day as usual Well done to Sussanah glad you enjoyed it.
I have to say this dive site was above my expectations. This was the first outing and I will be going again before too long.
Not too far away and extremely polite and helpful staff. Great site and Great company. Nice to see Jack back again too.
