25th August - Clear, blue and hot at Capers

Unusually it was too hot and the water was clear and blue yesterday at Capers, so while you were all working Tom, Charlie and myself had 2 great dives, navigating successfully around the quarry with laminated map and compass bearings, mine or Toms, were spot on for the underwater attractions.
Dive one saw us go to the horses, take a slight left at the first boat and following Toms nose we found the Wessex without a compass. We were the first there so clear water and undisturbed bottom all the way there. Follwed a sturgeon for a while. Then over to the gnome garden, back to diving bell, swam over the 'blue' direct to large plane, pottered around there till Tom needed to come up for safety stop, only having a 12lt tank, managed a 60 min dive anyway.

After a very hot lunchbreak, dive 2 we set off for the deepest point at the back of the quarry, so past the Podsnap and into a dust cloud. There were several students in doing their deep dive at 21m, why not 30m? :scratch: in what looked like a dustbowl. We popped up and down here, getting 20.8m on my computer. Then off back to diving bell, passed the big plane, the other smaller helicopter, back to Podsnap and then back up to a 5m stop just away from the jetty (too many overhead students jumping in there and sinking without looking) A bit more energetic swim round that dive as at one point Tom was trying to keep up with the sturgeon, but a good 47 min dive.
