What a nice relaxing dive.

It's amazing how the viz changes when the temparture drops. Last night's viz was not bad, 3-4m at best. Great dive, plenty of fish to see and we didn't even get lost, (and no mere-cating)

Sorry i have no pictures my new camera as gone back for repair, and my other cameras are otherwise not available until next year, at least.

Two great dives at Stoney today!

Dive one - Some of us headed down to the hydro box... I got 35.7m, 32 mins dive. The vis was really really good!!!! (The best I've seen it at Stoney). Although it was very dark from around 10m. Had a really good dive - much more relaxed than my last visit to the hydro box!!!!

Dive two - The plan was to dive the wrecks. Our wonderful host/guide found the Staingarth (at the bottom of the shot line) - which we had fun exploring, also found several ...

This was once a great diving venue, until the mid 1990's, when the then owners drained and banned divers!

Situated between Sheffield and Workshop this site was great. Fantasic viz and a depth of just over 20m. Some people called this Armstrong Quarry, some called it Steetley. Both are in fact correct. The site was next to the former steel works and along side an old mine.

Today the site is under re-development and a complete de-comtamination of the surrounding land. So diving is ...

What a great week out in the land of sand and sun.

It was great to help, assist and teach the Kay family out in Egypt. Our Host dive centre and accomodation was the Camel dive club in Narma Bay. Thanks to all the staff and dive guides for making me feel welcome and part of the team.

Egypt is one of those places that seems to be full of divers.. this trip was great to get back out there and enjoying some of the best coral reefs and some great wrecks.

Yesterday ProScuba completed a world record

The world record was something we found out about recently from a book of 2009 dive records. What it was, was simply the 'deepest underwater card trick'. This was in the book at 19m so we bet it straight away in Capernwray in October . Yesterday we blew that record even further . As a member of the Magic Circle, i'm no stranger to doing a bit of magic So armed with a deck of cards, Me, Rob and Doc did a 50m dive to perform a card trick at this ...

We had one of the legends out with us today Mr YoYo himself back for a few days from sunny Spain.. apparantly he is back in a few weeks for the winter.. FOOL and ready to start on some technical diving with us

Once again there were a ProScuba group out diving at Capernwray. Two dives just pottering around the lake. Great fun, great vizability and great company.

I would like to say how good bouyancy was with the team. In the quarries (and the sea) the bottom often gets well kicked up. Yeasterday I was really impressed by the standared that everyone had, especially some of the newer divers.

With the sun firmly set, time to get those torches out and have a play in the dark

Blue lagoon was the venue for our first outing of the winter. 8 of us battled against the rain to get kitted up before heading into the murky waters. Our plan was for me to real a line to follow, which worked well between the the Gun and the Plane.

Viz was down to less that a metre a times, but the eight of us kept it together for over 35mins. Great fun and really exciting.

North Wales for two great dives at two great locations.

Our first dive was in the sea down at Trefor Pier. Good dive for over 50mins around the legs of the pier. Plenty of life, but the viz in the shallows was a bit on the poor side.

After a lunch we decided to head on to Vivian to do our second dive. Here we did another 50min dive in the clear waters of this superb slate quarry. Viz was good and there were plenty of eels upto a metre in length. These eels normally migrate through ...

Stoney Cove

The venue today was 'good old Stoney'. Ed, Doc, Jack and Rob and myself plunged ourselves into the darkness and poor viz for two dives.

The weather was kind yet again... Doc found the shop a real temptation (but i'll let her tell what she bought ) Myself I had two realy enjoyable dives, even if the viz was crap . Our second dive took me and doc onto the new wreck of the Defiant (Picture at top of page). Nice change and bit smaller than the stanegarth.

All in all a great ...

Yet again the sun was out for us. Todays diving was at Hodge Close Quarry in the Lake District. My buddy was 'Mary' who was a virgin ... of this quarry until today

This disused quarry is a great place to visit, never mind going to dive. The quarry has sheer cliffs over 100 ft high surrounding the water, a further 100ft deep.

The dive it's self is nothing too special, but the 30m depth and 7 degrees make it challenge,, especially having negociated a 100 m stream passage under the hill, ...

Just to say thanks for helping me finish off my AOW last month , it gave me the confidence to do a really cool wall dive in Menorca , saw some great wildlife including an Octopus which was amazing.

The dive was a fairly steep cliff / shore entry in marine reserve on north of island where the first challange was not falling down the rocks and killing yourself !!! .Only shame was had a bit of a dodgy reg which meant when turning head had to hold my reg in!!!! Also completed ...

Still the best...... I love this location

Thanks to my dive buddies today, Doc, Rob and jack Two great dives, one down to 40m and one to 25m, both of about 35mins. Bright September sunshine helped with the viz, very good below 12m, where the water temparture droped from 14 to 7 degrees . But what a fantasic days diving.

So the day didn't quite go as planned - So while waiting for a recovery truck we took a few surface pictures of the two new wrecks.. then went for a 'one and half hour' dive to 36m

So here are a few pictures (might end up in separate posts)

Had a great week on Cyprus.

The place was nice, but the big reason for going was to dive on the wreck of the Xenobia / Zenobia - which was as good as I had hoped (appart from the accidental deco dives - a longer story).

It is well worth a look if you fancy a 175metre wreck which is in great condition and still has most of its cargo (trucks etc) on board (it sunk 20 years ago). There is also loads of sea life.

I did my dives with Viking Divers - who I would very much recomend.

6th September 2009

Wast Water in the Lake District was the venue for us today. Starting the day there were a few apprehensive faces, but the end of the two dives it was smiles all round.

Wast Water is one of these dives that build confidence and can really make (or break) divers. Dealing being NARKED, the cold water (7 degree at 40m), the dark all makes for some awesome diving.

Today the weather started OK, with the summits of the surrounding mountains shrouded in cloud. By ...

Adventure dives don't have to be hard work Today at Blue lagoon the kay families first adventure was to hire three DPV's to curcumnavigate the the lake. With just about Zero viz we headed off to have a great dive.

Our second dive was to learn how safely use and deploy a SMB (Surface Marker Bouy).

Great day nice weather and fun in the water
